Downtown

Our town has something pretty cool that happens on every Friday night before an FSU home football game.
The Downtown Get Down.
It's a great place to go for food and fun.
Here are some things I like about it.
Live music.
Jumping houses for the kiddoes.
Snow cones!
Nice for these first ones that are still in the summer heat.
Ohhhh....this booth smells terrific!
My favorite booth of all.
FUNNEL CAKES!
Woo-hoo!
Praise the Lord!
Yes, I ate it.
No, I'm not ashamed.
These things are AWESOME!
There are interviews with people.
These men serve our country in the Navy.
Thank you to them.
Fun give-aways for the little ones and even the not so little ones.
Peppers and onions!
Oh.....smells soooooo good!
Sausage dogs!
Yum!
People that chose to wear strange clothes.
The head football coach of the FSU Seminoles, Jimbo Fisher!
She is holding my prized possesion!
Baby girl gets to play in a giant sand box!
A girl who should be put on restrictions for wearing this out of the house.
Boys playing their music in the park.
Even a mermaid lady was there.
Cool!
And face painting for the kids.
How cute!
Love those painted on big teeth!
And baby girl got a balloon doggie.
And this was the sunset as we left to go home.
Beautiful!
So, if you are in Tally and need something to go on a Friday night.
Go to the Downtown Get Down
and get down, downtown!

You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman

What do you do when you have a yard sprinkler system and it's maybe an eyesore and looks like this and you just want your yard to be "ever so attractive"?
Well, you put a big box like this over it, right?
And then it just blends right in and no one would ever ever in a million years notice it.
NOT!
No, you go to the plastic rock store and you get yourself one of these!!!
Wow!
Or how about one like this?
And this one under the tree.
It just looks like it grew right out of the ground.
Oh so natural. I mean everytime I ride by, I think to myself , "wow...that rock just looks so natural." And then I giggle a little bit.
And a deep apology to all my neighbors for poking fun.
And a deep thank you to them also for making me enjoy my car rides by their homes.

You Make Me Feel So Young

So, where do you go to celebrate a very special birthday for a very special person?
You could go anywhere and I'm going to tell you he would have been happy if we went to Whataburger! But, we took about an hours drive down to Alligator Point for some fresh Florida seafood.
You can't beat these views.
The crowd was low and we had a nice family dinner to celebrate with my Dad for his birthday. Not just any birthday.
A big number.
But, if I told you what number it was, you would think I was joking.
Really.
For real.
We could have dined outside but, if you don't know Florida this time of year...
Well, it's as hot as ( you fill in the blank)_______.
So, we chose the air conditioning.
Good choice.
Very good choice.
We went to Angelos. This place has been around for years but, one hurricane a few years back took it completely down and it took them a while to rebuild. But, they did and this was my first time going back since the rebuild.
Here's the birthday boy with his great-grandaughter out on the deck before dinner.
Warning if you are the least bit hungry, the next few photos will be very disturbing.
I would suggest you turn back now.
The food is as delishious as it looks.
Really, it is.
Uncle Larry ordered these heads on shrimp.
I wondered why they called them heads on.
Um.....cause..
OH MY LORD! THEY LEFT THE HEADS ON!!!!!!!
GOO!

Daddy didn't mind eating them one bit! Ha ha!
Actually they say with the heads on, the flavor is better. But, no-one really ate one of the heads. Thank goodness!
Whew.
I was about to get sick.
Look at Kiera and Michaels seafood platter!
Oh yum!
Some broiled amberjack.
One of my favorites of all time.
Some broiled flounder.
Just divine.
Mother baked Daddy his favorite cake and brought it along with us.
German Chocolate!
Looks great, doesn't it?
They all said it was delish.
I didn't try it.
Don't think it's because I was being good.
I just am not a fan of anything that has cocunut on it.
I know....very...very...imature!!!
My beautiful parents!
Lamar and Catty!
The whole gang.
I am thankful for another year with my Daddy and look forward to all the Lord will do through Him for the next 100 years!!!!
Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Be Our Guest

I found this old lamp. It was headed for the trash. It's so old that the plug on it won't even fit in to the new house plugs. I was about to dump it and then a light bulb went off in my head. And let me tell you, that just doesn't happen everyday! Ha!
A couple of weeks ago, I was waited to have our pool water tested at Pinch a Penny and I saw these cool pool towel holders that they had for sale. I thought they were so cool! They were made out of PVC pipe and you could have all your towels hanging right there and then I thought,
50 dollars?
50 dollars??
Really?
Needless to say, I didn't get one. I thought to myself, I might could make one somehow. Then I totally forgot about it.
Until..........
This old, heavy brass lamp came into my life.
And I thought, hmmm.......pool towel holder?
Yes!
Pool towel holder!!!!
So, I took out the lamp parts and gave it a few coats of spray paint. And now, we have our very own and it works great, looks great and holds 4 towels.
My Grandprincess was napping while all this transpired and when she woke up and came outside she said..... "Oh, there's Lumiere!"
(You know, the candle stick from Beauty and the Beast.)
I loved it!
Our towel holder has the perfect name.
See him in action? He does his job very well!
So the next time you see something old and junky and are about to trash it, think outside the box a little and you may find something awesome inside there!
